Mariah Carey Shares Excerpt From Audiobook Of Upcoming Memoir

Mariah Carey took to Twitter to share excerpt from her upcoming memoir, “The Meaning of Maria Carey,” on Tuesday (September 22), exactly one week ahead of its release.

The audiobook excerpt finds Carey saying, “I never spoke of it, I stuffed it inside. I had to find a way to survive…”

The snippet features some vintage footage of Carey’s early days, with the song “Looking In” from her 1995 album Daydream playing in the background.

Kelly Clarkson retweeted the post, adding, “The amount of times I listened to this song as a kid is incredible. Still holds up. What a songwriter @MariahCarey is! Obviously an insanely talented singer, but the writer in her…. just wow. People forget she wrote ALL OF THOSE SONGS y’all.”

Carey thanked Clarkson, saying, “Thank you for acknowledging one of the most personal songs I’ve ever written it’s a huge compliment coming from you, because I know music is your life as it is mine. Love you and can’t wait to see you again.”

Earlier, Carey had been teasing the memoir for weeks and even dropped a few chapter titles on Tuesday. A phrase, “Thanksgiving is Cancelled” triggered some panic in the Lambily, after which she apologized and explained that it was simply the name of a chapter in the memoir.
