Megan Thee Stallion & Beyoncé’s ‘Savage’ Claims Top Spot On Songs Of The Summer Chart

Megan Thee Stallion‘s “Savage,” featuring Beyoncé, has risen to the top spot on Billboard‘s Songs of the Summer chart dated June 13.

“Savage” rose to No. 1 after coming in at No. 2 in the annual survey’s first week of 2020, when Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande‘s “Rain on Me” topped the chart.

Billboard noted “Savage” has reached the top of the Songs of the Summer chart even without having topped the weekly Hot 100 during each of the season’s first two weeks.

“Savage” has come in at No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 in each of the last two weeks after topping the chart dated May 30.

The Songs of the Summer chart tracks the most popular titles based on cumulative performance on the weekly streaming-, airplay- and sales-based Billboard Hot 100 chart from Memorial Day through Labor Day.

“Rain On Me” dipped to No. 2 on the Songs of the Summer chart, while DaBaby‘s “Rockstar,” featuring Roddy Ricch, holds at No. 3, The Weeknd‘s “Blinding Lights” remains at No. 4, and Doja Cat‘s “Say So” repeats at No. 5.

A’Miracal Phillips, Telah Black and Kennedy Finister — each of whom are black former Auburn gymnasts — all took to Instagram in recent days to detail their experiences with what they allege to be racism from their time on the team at Auburn. A’Miracal competed at Auburn from 2016-19, while Telah was on the team from 2016-18, and Kennedy was on the roster from 2013-18 but never competed. All three, in separate posts, describe being treated differently from the rest of their teammates due to their race.

Lizzo Makes Chart History

Lizzo makes chart history.

The Cuz I Love You single ties Iggy Azalea “Fancy” featuring Charli XCX for longest-running number one rap song by a female artist. “Truth Hurts” is the first rap No.1 Hot 100 for an unaccompanied female since Cardi B’s “Bodak Yellow (Money Moves)”, which spent three weeks on top in October 2017.

The rapper earns seventh week atop Billboard Hot 100 with “Truth Hurts.” The song first topped the Hot 100 in early September and spent six consecutive weeks at No.1 before dropping to No.2 when it was dethroned by Travis Scott’s “Highest in the Room”, which slides to No.6 in its second week on the charts.
